It’s October once again! And
for the last 5 years, October has never been more exciting than the holiday
season. Way back in 2010, AMC and FOX introduced a new TV series called THE
WALKING DEAD. Well, my first impression was “Oh please! Not another zombie story!”
I wasn't actually interested
in TWD’s first season, thinking that it’s “just another zombie story”. And to think that it only lasted for 6 episodes on it's first season, I can still
remember the loud chuckle I made that day.
Then one day in 2012, I saw
this TWD comic book in a bookstore in Singapore. To make the long story short,
I fell in love with this monochrome goodness. So I decided to give the TV
series a chance. It was already Season 3 by then so I started watching it from
Season 1.
Watching season 1 was quite
boring at first but when they reached CDC (Center for Disease Control), that’s
when the show caught my attention. (CDC was not in the comics by the way). I
then realized that the comic book and series does not have a completely
synchronized story line, which means no spoiler even for the comic book
readers. I think that was awesome!
And for the first time in my
life, a TV series marathon happened. When I reached the last episode of season
4, I am so heart broken and sad and was so excited to know what’s going to
happen next. But we all have to wait until October.
I have been collecting the
complete TWD comics, and even though the comic book story was way ahead from
the series, the next season is still unpredictable; it still leaves you
clueless on what will happen next. As I mentioned, the story is not completely
synced, though the elements of the story is still there. Now that proves why I
call it awesome.
Now it’s October once again.
Another season of The Walking Dead is coming and we fans cannot wait any
longer! We know that TWD’s story gets even better and better every season, and
now that TWD is on its 5th year, I expect it to be the best season yet. Just
when I thought that this is “just another zombie story”, I was completely
wrong. Now I can say that The Walking Dead is NOT the usual zombie stuff and
thaangs. The story matured through the years along with its characters, and we
can now learn from it, from survival, tactical, compassion, love, being responsible
to your family and friends, leadership, decision-making and a lot more. For me,
these could be the reasons why I am attached to every episode I watch.
But as a fan
of the series, what am I expecting of AMC and TWD for the upcoming season 5?
-Revenge
That last line Rick said in the last episode was a kick-ass. I really wanted to see Rick go full ‘Ricktatorship’ once more and unleash hell in Terminus. Terminus doesn’t really exist in the comics, though they modified the “Fear the Hunters” part of the comics and made it so much better.

-Love
I’m expecting a development of love teams for this season. In season 4, Bob and Sasha almost had it, Daryl and Beth (GO BETHYL!), Carol and Tyreese would be possible or we can see Carol and Daryl teasing each other again. Rick and Michonne maybe?

-More walkers!
We've seen new type of walkers every season and i am hoping to see some new unusual walkers. A child walker would be cool or maybe (spoiler alert!) a talking walker.

-Escape from Terminus
I hope to see a very dramatic escape plan for Rick’s group so as to make our wait worthwhile.

-More gunfire
I don’t know if it’s only me, but i love how they look in their combat mode, especially the girls. And with the addition of Sgt. Abraham Ford, I expect some heavy artillery hitting the termites and walkers to kingdom come.

| Negan |
Season 4 ended with a few new characters, and i expect their character
development in season 5. I think one confirmed addition to the cast is Father
Gabriel Stokes. For comic book readers, you know we all wanted to see Negan and
his f********************* killing machine, Lucille. (The number of censor is
equivalent to the curse words that Negan says every time he speaks. Believe me,
he is more bad ass than the Governor). Shiva (the tiger) could be the coolest
character to ever be in the series and when it happens, I really hope it won’t
be a lousy CG.

-Old characters
There are a few characters since season 1 that was left out in the story so far. Remember Morales and his family that chose to stay in their first camp in Atlanta? How about Felipe and his gang (the Latin group who takes care of the old and sick people)? And Lilly, the one who shot The Governor in the head. Wiki says she died already but it would give us a peace of mind if we could at least see how she died, same goes with the “sandwich woman”, though I’ve seen photos of her as a walker. I also wanted to see Morgan back on his feet and reunite with Rick. As what we’ve seen from the season 5 teaser, Beth Greene will be back this season. Yeah, she is very much alive.

-Major deaths
The Walking Dead would not be The Walking Dead without the heartbreaking death of our beloved characters, whether their death is from a walker or from a human. If i would base my assumptions from the comics, (spoiler alert!) I expect Glenn to die next. I really hope not but death is necessary for the development of the story. Sigh… But as mentioned, the comic is not 100% adapted to the series so it may or it may not happen. Ok, you can breathe now.

-More episodes
Who doesn’t want to have more episodes of TWD in a season? Well, i guess 16 episodes are long enough, considering Game of Thrones only has 10. But I hope they reconsider.

-Longer episode time
If they cannot grant us with more episodes, a longer air time would suffice.

-Rick’s beard stays
If Rick shaves, I ain’t watching anymore.

Well of course if Daryl dies,
you know what will happen.
